I first heard about Fred as the contractor who renovated California Ranch in Massachusetts (episode 64). We then met a couple times on Clubhouse. I started listening to (and taking notes about) his podcast Home Owners Institute. He agreed to come on to my podcast to discuss the role he has cut out for himself as an Owner’s Representative in residential projects. I continue to learn a lot from Fred.
Fred Gutierrez has practiced professionally as both an architect and builder for over 25 years. His focus today is as an owner’s representative, building better teams by educating owners to lead with purpose. Even though the homeowners do not have the expert knowledge, they are the only ones able to define the measures of success. Clarity of goals will allow the experts (architect and builder) of work efficiently and contribute more creatively. But the real goals are harder to define than you think.
